Fact & Questions

How do I know if my land is suitable for forestry mulching?

Forestry mulching equipment is large, heavy, and requires stable ground to operate safely and effectively.

The first factor we evaluate is access. Our delivery trailer and mulching machine need adequate room to enter and maneuver, so tight driveways, steep grades, soft shoulders, or low overhanging limbs may limit access or require alternate entry points.

We also consider ground conditions, which are critical for forestry mulching. Wet, soft, or saturated soil can prevent equipment from traveling safely, and extremely rocky terrain can slow or restrict mulching. Because the machinery relies on solid footing, unstable areas may need to dry out or be stabilized before work begins.

Tree size is also important to consider. For vegetation, softwoods like white pine and spruce under 20 inches in diameter and hardwoods 16 inches in diameter and under. Larger trees can typically be mulched at the crowns, but full removal may require additional equipment or methods.

If any site conditions—such as access limitations, soil softness, or tree size—may impact our ability to mulch, we can assess the situation and recommend practical mitigation options.
