Facts & Questions
What should I expect after forestry mulching?
After forestry mulching, you can expect an organic mulch layer made from the material we process on your property.
Chip sizes will vary depending on the type and size of the vegetation mulched—ranging from small pieces just a few inches long to larger up to about 8-12 inches. These chips quickly flatten into a mat of organic material .
The amount of wood mass on your land directly affects the thickness of the mulch mat left behind. Areas with dense vegetation or larger material will naturally produce a deeper mulch layer, while lighter brush results in a thinner covering.
Over time, this mulch begins to blend back into the soil, enriching it as it decomposes. The decomposition process can take two years or longer, depending on factors such as mulch thickness, moisture levels, and local environmental conditions. Thinner, well-hydrated mulch layers break down more quickly, while thicker or drier areas take additional time.
Overall, the result is a more open, usable landscape with a natural ground cover that gradually improves soil health as it breaks down.
